EU & UK Update

The new UK government appears to be seeking to develop closer ties with the EU. Post-Brexit, cross-border engagement between UK and EU financial institutions and their clients and counterparties became more challenging with the withdrawal of passporting rights, whilst reverse solicitation remains possible in some circumstances it has been difficult for many UK firms to have a clear path. Whilst rejoining the EU does not appear to be an option, certain cross-border channels might be re-opened which may be a positive development for the UK financial sector.
